When you run a Python program, Python keeps track of each piece of code as it runs. Python does this using a structure called an execution frame. A Python execution frame is a record of one piece of code running at one moment. You can think of it like a single page in a notebook that shows what code is running, what names are known, and what will happen next. Each time Python starts running a new code block, it creates a new execution frame. When that code finishes, the frame is removed.
